Think in workflow, not a shopping list
A histopathology lab is a connected pipeline. Each instrument feeds the next, so the equipment should be chosen to work together and to match your expected workload.
Core equipment checklist
- Automatic tissue processor β preserves and infiltrates tissue with wax; the heart of the lab.
- Tissue embedding station β orients and sets tissue into firm blocks.
- Rotary microtome β cuts thin paraffin sections.
- Tissue floatation bath β flattens sections on warm water.
- Slide warming table β dries and adheres sections to slides.
- Automatic slide staining machine β consistent H&E and special stains.
- Cryostat microtome β for frozen sections, if you offer intraoperative work.
- Consumables & accessories β cassettes, blades, reagents, slides, coverslips.
Planning for quality (NABL)
If you are aiming for accreditation, plan documentation, calibration, reagent management and equipment maintenance from day one β they are easier to build in than to retrofit.
How to budget
Costs depend on automation level and capacity. Rather than buying piecemeal, it is usually more cost-effective to plan the whole workflow together and phase purchases against your projected volume. Our team can prepare a tailored equipment-and-cost plan for your lab.
